Thank You!!

Thank you to everyone who came out to race and support Midget Champs! That was such a fun weekend filled with awesome racing, teamwork, and fun. Exactly what Midget Championships is all about. Make sure to thank your parents, and our parent volunteers for driving you safely there and back, for setting up the wax factory (and pumping your beauty skis out), and for everything they do to make our team a success! Thank you parents for making my life a lot easier!!

We took a huge chunk out of the awards and couldn’t get off the podium! Big ups to Cara, Sierra, Reid, and our future teammate Adam who all clinched podium spots both days! Another huge shout out to Erin and James for hitting a podium spot for the classic race and the team sprint! We have to say a huge congratulation to Marco and Leyla for being recognized for the skate technique award for their whole category! This is huge! I apologize that I won’t be able to check your race sheets for this race. Please take some time to reflect on your goals, and where you want to go from here.

I am so proud of each and every one of you, even if you weren’t able to make it this past weekend. Over this season I watched a few groups of kids who like skiing, to a true team of athletes, each passionate about becoming the best they can be. I haven’t seen this level of passion and commitment at your age anywhere in my experience. You are the future of skiing and athleticism.

Thank you for making this season the most fun and rewarding ski season I have seen. Your positive attitudes, and adventurous spirits made programming the extras so easy. You were so brave learning to rollerski at the start of the season. You were so mature and patient with our partly on-snow Christmas camp. And you became a team of supportive friends who just happen to rock at skiing.

For the rest of the season try to get as much fun skiing in as you can. The only complaint I’ve heard from the senior squad about the upcoming Nationals is that they will miss spring skiing at Hardwood. In their opinion, this is the best time of the year to ski in Southern Ontario. Get together with your friends and teammates and just ski. Adventure our old routes, make some new ones, go charge down the Black Hole section and go tuck Bobsled!

Be sure to wish your senior teammates good luck at Nationals in Thunder Bay! They have been working since April in preparation for this week of racing. This is hardcore Nordic Ski racing.

I know in the future I’ll see you winning medals for Team Canada at the Olympic Winter Games, or challenging school and skiing in the OUA circuit, getting a permanent bib for the Canadian Ski Marathon, coaching a Jr Devo program, or even just skiing because you still love to.

Thank you, to each of you for letting me be a part of your ski career.

Andrew
