Nice Ab workout activity gang! I really like your creativity - looks like a lot of fun too!
Great job on the scavenger hunt this year! We had 2 super strong teams and it was a race to the finish! I am going to call it a tie game so we are all winners :)
Ok this week I think we need to continue on with intensities, and with ski specific workouts. My hope is to use the short skis and your rock skiis on Tuesday night so bring boots and poles and skiis you have....BUT that is a bit of a long shot especially if it rains, so bring walking poles and running shoes too.
Parents - until we have snow enough - we will make a couple of changes. On snow we can increase time.
Tuesdays 5 - 6:30pm in Palace
Saturday 9:30 - 11:30 Meet in in West wing of Chalet
We will be working out the entire time, so there is no loss of training time, just the prep and conversations will be limited as we really don't have a comfortable space in this temperature!
Monday: Rest or alternate sports
Tuesday: HOPEFULLY 'rock ski' adventure "In Search of Snow" - or Pole walking/strength if needed.
Since it is cold and we don't have warm space to work out - we will be running Tuesday night practices for 1.5 hrs (so please be there at 5 and we will wrap up at 6:30)
Wednesday: Rollerski/run with pick ups -5 pick ups -for 1min each Go HAAAARD(10min warm up 10min cool down)
Thursday: Strength - make sure you cover CORE and BALANCE moves we have seen recently. Google 'standing yoga moves' for Tree pose, Balancing Stick, Eagle, Dancer...these are great poses that get you to practice standing on one foot (and you can imaging being on one ski). Try them after several burpees to see if your balance is the same with a high heart rate....JUST DO IT!
Friday: Rest or alternate sports
Saturday: Pole walking/striding and uphill interval races We will discuss "Burning matches". Bring walking poles. I will send out an email if we have snow too...cross your fingers.
WE HAVE SNOW SO PLEASE BRING SKIS. WE WILL TRY TO SKATE!

Sunday: Long slow Day. So this long workout day is about adding matches to your match book. The more matches you have, the more times you can burn one in a race.

Something I took a lot from that workout is how much fun they have during training here. I have had several people say to me “you have to make training fun”, which seems like something that is forgotten sometimes in Canada, especially as athletes get older and training gets more “Serious”.
