What great Fun in the Sun this past Saturday at Mount St. Louis.
Most kids were surprised at how many times they sprinted up and down the section of the hill that Sarah and Bronwyn used for the "Lego Games".
Everyone seems to be getting better at this game, so next time we'll pick a harder hill!
If you are still in search of any ski equipment for the winter, please do feel free to reach out to the Coaches as we're always happy to help where we can!
The store for Team Kit are also still open for ONE (1) MORE Day - see HERE for the Jakroo store. You can also get socks from Outway with the Team Hardwood Logos from the stock the team has already.
Please know that there is NO requirement to purchase Team Kit, but it is a great way to show your support, the clothing is a great price and it works!
Tuesday – Running and Strength Training at Hardwood
With the warm weather and despite the time change, we will Pole Run in the DARK on Tuesday night and delay the start of online strength until the weather doesn't allow for fun in the forest.
You MUST have a good working HEADLAMP for practice as well as Poles.
Please arrive between 5:20PM to 5:25PM so we can get moving by 5:30PM. We might be able to sneak into The Palace for 5-10min on the Ski Ergs closer to 7:00PM as the Seniors should be done by then.
Saturday – Roller Skiing!!!
As the weather seems reasonable on Saturday morning, we will look to do another Roller Ski.
If your family has Roller Skis, please bring ALL of them so we can share. The Coaches will bring all of the Team's Skis, as well as several of their own.
OTHER NOTES
- Wear a well-fitting Bike Helmet - REQUIRED
- Wear a BRIGHT coloured top - this is also REQUIRED for skiing on the Road
- Consider elbow and knee pads if they make you feel more comfortable - just a suggestion
- Please arrive by 9:15AM so we can get you geared up for skiing at 9:30AM.
- ALL Skiers - and Parents if you also want to ski - MUST obey the Safety Rules we set out for Roller Skiing on the road.
For those who are still getting comfortable Roller Skiing, please bring both your Classic Boots, Skate Boots, Classic Poles, and Skate Poles - with SHARP tips - as we will likely have you try Skate in the later part of the practice
For those who have Roller Skied before, please bring your Skate Boots and Skate Poles - with SHARP tips.
As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
- Be active every day, get enough sleep, and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either on-road or off-road
- Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercises that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. Perhaps combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
- We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
