December 22- 29 (Christmas Camp + SOD Night Race)

Amazing skiing Team!! You absolutely rocked at the Yuletide Blast! You looked so great skiing as a team, commanding those trails. I wish we took a team picture before heading out. You’ll have to remind me next time. I don’t know if anyone has checked out the results page but we cleaned up. We left with twelve podium finishes, six placed just off a podium spot, and everyone was in the top 15 of their races! Congratulations!! We are so impressed by your determination and hard work!! Please bring your completed Race Sheet to the next practice for me to collect, and for us to discuss how your race went.

For Saturday please bring your training log. I am going to start weekly checks to make sure they are being filled out, and you’re not experiencing any problems resulting from training. I also want the athletes to feel accountable for their training schedules by reading this blog. I will be adding a short code to one of the Team Training days to encourage athletes to check the blog and update their logs. Even if you’re not planning on attending that training day, please add the code to your book in the closest entry. I can explain more when we’re together next. For example, the entry for the Yuletide Blast weekend, with the code YTB14 could look like this:

This Sunday is the 9:00am drop off for the Jr Devo Christmas Camp. If you have not paid yet please bring me cash, or a cheque made out to HHNDC as soon as is convenient. We have loads of fun planned for the group so double check the packing list, and also bring your training log and a flashlight/ headlamp. We will cap the camp off with the HSB race so please sign up for the Monday December 29th Night Race here: https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=8220&lan=1&cartlevel=1 We encourage the parents to be at HSB before the race to cheer on their skiers. Bag drop off/ pick up logistics will come via email later this week.

Training Checklist
- At least 60 min a day of moderate to vigorous intensity
- Vigorous activities 3 days a week
- Strengthening activities 3 days a week (strength circuit)
- Ski specific training at least once outside team training

Our Strength Circuit
30 seconds per activity, go through the set 1 to 2 times
- Push up
- Plank
- Crunch
- Bicycle
- Oblique crunch (30 sec per side)
- Jane Fondas (30 sec per leg)
- Reverse crunch
- Supermans
