WOW!!! What an inspirational guest we had join us on Saturday - Olympian and hometown hero - Lenny Valjas. It was awesome of him to take part in our 2.5km Time Trial - which he crushed in a little over 6 minutes after passing each and everyone of our team mates! He sent you a real compliment when he told me that our team was 'ripping' it out there! I hope you could all sense the joy that Lenny takes in training - and he does it a LOT!
I have a couple of great pictures of our team with Lenny, but the blog is being a bit tempermental….I will add them as I get them working
Ok this week -
Monday - Rest and Alternative sport.
Tuesday 5 - 6:30pm SKATE OR CLASSIC - not sure but PLEASE BRING A HEADLAMP. We will ski under the lights but I want to start with a warm up in the forest. Meet the Palace - of course depending on snow Monday and plowing- but we are hoping to keep it clear to get to the Palace at all times.
Wednesday: run/ski with pick ups -3 pick ups -for 2min each Go HAAAARD(10min warm up 10min cool down)
Thursday: Strength - Check out this link and try to create your own strength workout
Friday: Rest and Alternative sports.
Saturday 9:30 - 11:30 (ski time) Meet in in West wing of Chalet
I really liked how people were meeting at around 9am. We will be skiing away from the lodge at 9:30am sharp. Arriving at 9 gave us time to chat, get organized, wax...etc. Depending on the grooming, we will change our ski style. Bring everything! It was tricky to classic without track set, so we may try to get some skate in! Bring both ski types please!
ALSO - Dwayne Barber is hosting a waxing clinic for parents and we should take part in listening to at least some of it. It is primarily for parents, but in the past the athletes have done some waxing as well. Without the big space this year we will have to play it by ear!
Sunday: Long slow Day. So this long workout day is about adding matches to your match book. The more matches you have, the more times you can burn one in a race.
