Jan 28 - Feb 3 Easterns

Hanging out - what we do best!

Wait, baking and eating, we do that best too....
Hanging around the outhouse, another best....

I am so very happy to hear about such a great weekend of racing - not easy, but fun I hope.  I have heard many comments about the Jr Devo (including minis) about your technique, your endurance and strength. Way to go team, your training is really paying off. What impresses me more...however, is when people say how we work like a TEAM - cheering each other on, hanging out together and warming up together etc. That is what this team is all about - having fun, going fast and making friends!

Ok this weekend brings a mixed bag of events - some of you will attend Easterns and some will continue to train at Hardwood. Here is the plan for the week and weekend.  Parents please be prepared for the flurry of wax emails on the way.

Monday - Rest/alternative sport

Tuesday - Depending on how much you raced on the weekend you may want another rest or recovery day here. Zone 1 technique, alternative sport or a nice slow jog. Stay loose but do not get over tired.
Wednesday - You should do a light version of strength and core here - try some balance moves instead of hard core moves that tire or hurt your muscles.  Maybe even a 30 min yoga!!!
Thursday - 1-1.5 hr  or 5:30 - 6:30-7pm    Slow Zone 1 fun with technique Classic Style - racers will keep their legs loose and not go above a zone 1 to make any muscles tired.  Non racers can do some fun sprints and or 10sec pick ups. I can do some video tonight as I will not be skiing much, but I will come out to get some activity happening under those lights!
Option for racers - Jack is taking a few Sr team members to Duntroon to pre-ski in the afternoon, so feel free to join in - I won't be there but you can still join if you are able!

Friday - Racers - prologue race is today. Short distance but exciting!  Non racers - ski or alternative sport!

Saturday - I will run a practice  at Hardwood 9:30am leaving the chalet - 11:30 (so please arrive between 9-9:15 for pre-ski information and plan)  Please bring both skis and we will see if we can get on both, but I would like to start and focus on skate technique.

Sunday - I will be going to Easterns but a long slow Zone 1 ski if you are not racing...the longer the better!
Don't forget the hot chocolate!

Important notes from Jack - and they may keep coming!

If you are racing on Friday: Sully, Liam, Adam and Jasper (is what I have so far)
Either on Tuesday or Wednesday I am going to need your classic racing skis so that we can start to prepare them on Thursday for Friday. Bring them to practice please. If you cannot do this then I will need them on Thursday afternoon or evening. If you cannot do any of these then it will be difficult for us to wax your skis for the Friday race.
For Emily, Justine, Clover and Charlie - Jack will need your skis Friday afternoon for Saturdays race if possible.
I will be going to Duntroon Friday if anyone wants to send skis with me after Thursdays practice.

Also he said if parents can do glide zones themselves they can do the same thing they did for Muskoka Loppett - everyone had good skiis. They will take care of grip in the trailer on race day.
