Who votes that Erik has to bring the unicorn and the funky pants to all races? I do!!!!!
Monday - Rest - you earned if after some fine skiing on Sunday in crazy conditions
Tuesday - This is the first week we will not be running practice on Tuesday night.
Wednesday - There is a highschool race - the Thames Valley event on at Hardwood if you can enter it, great! Some extra intensity always works!
Thursday - Practice will be at 5:30pm-7:30pm (Hardwood closes at 8 - I AM CHECKING THIS AS THE WEBSITE SAYS ONLY WED IT STAYS OPEN TILL 8 IF IT IS NOT OPEN WE WILL GO TO PALACE).
Lets do skate technique. I will be arriving at 5pm with Sr skiers and just be warming up or skiing around the chalet. Let's get practice started at 5:30 SHARP if possible. Please bring headlamps to every evening ski so that we can maximize our training.
Friday - Rest or Alternative activity.
Saturday - 9am-noon (9:29 skiing out of the chalet on skis). Lets do a full skiathlon practice - start of classic (sorry waxers - but use rock skis if possible) we will do technique and some starts and finishes - then move onto skate with the same idea - technique and short starts and finishes. Good practice for Sunday!
Sunday - The SOUNDER !!! This is a fantastic race at a really family friendly ski hub in Parry Sound. It just might become one of your favourite ski races. The post-race food is always awesome and the swag table as I recall was huge and rather entertaining....(well, at least it was last year).
Racing gets underway a little later in the morning (great for commuters) so 11am is the kickoff. We should be ready to do a classic warm up ski at 10am. I am going to encourage you to do both races at the 2.9km distance (for the majority of racers on our team). There will be sufficient rest time in between the two races and we will see what you've got in the tank! Bring an extra base layer that you can change into between races. If you only want to race one event, the SOD points are awarded for the classic event - but choose the event(s) that you will make you feel comfortable and happy.
I will be away at the Walden OCup on the weekend of the 19-20 - so we may want to gather parents together to organize a team ski on that weekend. There is also a world snow day activity at Highlands if people are interested.
