What a treat we had last Wednesday Night! It felt pretty familiar, but still a bit awkward as it's been a while since any of us have been on snow.
That will be the story for the next month; snow, melt, snow, melt, snow. What we are all looking for is more snowing than melting and that should get the trails open by mid-December - fingers crossed!
As with last week, we might need to adjust what we're doing at a given practice based on the weather. If we do need to change anything significant, we will be sure to send an email to all parents as well as post a note in the WhatsApp group.
There is snow on the ground here right now, but hard to say what the conditions will be like on Wednesday night. Chances are by the weekend it will have melted, but hopefully not completely.
With that said, I would again encourage all parents to start to watch the weather forecast, the radar, as well as the road conditions in the links at the bottom. We also want you to be able to get here safely and with time to spare. We also need you to be mindful of potential changes in what we'll do at a given practice.
Wednesday – TBD (BRING HEADLAMPS!!!)
Meet at the Palace between 5:15PM - 5:20PM
Depending on what stays on the ground in the next 48hrs, we will either go for a pole run (little to some snow remaining) or maybe even be able to ski again???
Look for an email by 9AM on Wednesday morning with the final call. If anyone has any extra "rock skis" (Classic) do let the group know on WhatsApp.
Practice will run until 7:00PM
Saturday – At Hardwood
Meet at the Palace between 9:15AM - 9:20AM
We will be back at Hardwood again on Saturday for more adventures in the forest. Bring WALKING POLES and we will keep things flexible as to what we will do based on the weather.
Based on the forecast when writing this, any snow that fell during the week will quite likely have again melted by Saturday.
Practice will run until just after 11:30AM
- Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either on-road or off-road
- Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercised HERE that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. Perhaps each Monday combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
