That's a bit more like it!!!
Great job everyone your TT yesterday in some much nicer snow conditions.
All the coaches saw noticeable improvements in technique and very strong efforts all around. You will see an email from us later tonight with your time and some comments as well.
Keep skiing consistently with your best technique and the progress will come with time and effort.
The biggest news is that we have had 30+cm of snow here in Oro-Medonte since noon yesterday which should set us up nicely for the next while. Hardwood has been able to take out one of their larger groomers so we should also have a good Classic track!
Wednesday - Classic
Please arrive between 5:20PM and 5:25PM so that we can get started at 5:30PM.
Hardwood is now officially open for Night Skiing, so pass that along to any friends and family.
The temperatures will start-off cold on Wednesday, but warm up throughout the day. Try a Violet hard wax but do bring your Skins/Crowns just in case.
I'll be there by 5:10PM if anyone needs any final touch-ups on wax
Saturday – Skate
With all the trails now open, this will allow us to get to some places we haven't yet been to this year!
Arrive and park by The Palace by 9:20AM so that we can be Skiing by 9:30AM
We will return to the Teaching Flats by 11:00AM and then finish off with some timed Skate Sprints for the last 30min.
Please also be sure to bring a water belt and perhaps some snacks.
Temperatures are set to be COLD on Saturday morning (-20C), so dress appropriately and be sure to glide wax your skis with a Green/Cold wax.
Sunday - Classic Race Simulation
We will look to do another Race Simulation of between 3km to 5km depending on age and experience level - this time we WILL do Classic
With the Sochi Extension now fully open, we can use "The Forest Loop".
Please arrive by 9:20AM so that we can get Skiing by 9:30AM. We will do some more Classic technique up to 10:00AM, then spend the next 30min doing a warm-up.
We will again send you an individual start time that you MUST adhere to in order to ensure we keep everyone spread out.
Temperatures are also set to be COLD on Sunday morning, but warming up throughout the morning. That should make grip waxing very easy!
As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
- Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either indoors or outdoors if safe
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercised that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. You can either run outside as a warm-up, then do strength inside, or run on a treadmill followed by your strength workout!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
- We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
