Week of Nov 21st - On Snow!!!

What a treat to have this early-season snow!  We're going to get out and ski as much as possible while it lasts!

We can all work on getting our "ski legs" back this week as we see how long the snow lasts.

This is also great practice on having our Ski Equipment and Winter Clothing ready to go as well as adjusting to the extra drive time that's often needed.

Tuesday - ON SNOW at HSB

We will meet at The Palace between 5:15PM to 5:20PM with HEADLAMPS for a Skate Ski leaving at 5:30PM

Please access the Main Parking Lot from the entrance off Line 6

You MUST bring a working Headlamp in-order to be able to participate in the practice safely as we will be heading out onto the Trails as part of the practice and we'll run right up to 7:00PM.

In these early season practices, the goal is to ski easy, ski with good form, and ski consistently so we can be really ready once the season starts in earnest.

Saturday – TBD

We will see what the weather holds by the time we get to Saturday.  If there is skiable snow at HSB, that's where we'll practice.

We'll make a final call about what we're doing exactly by noon on Friday.

Skiing in December

We don't start Sunday practices until we have consistent snow and despite this early season snowfall, we're still a fair ways out from starting Sunday practices - not likely until after the Holidays.

We will have practices on Tues Dec 27th, and Tues Jan 3rd.  We'll be asking for feedback on whether a daytime or evening time slot works best for most.

We also plan to have practices on Sat Dec 24th and Sat Dec 31st during our regular morning times.

As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
  • Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthily
  • Running – Try for 20-30min.  Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
  • Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
  • Strength Training – Try some of the exercises that we do at practice on your own.  These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week.  Perhaps combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
  • Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc.  There are LOTS of great resources online
  • We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
