Jan 8-14th Making News (again) + Mono Nordic

Hi everyone, well you had a fantastic week again - with adventure and competition.

Our adventure was to ski in temperatures with the wind chill in the region of -39oC. Luckily local news broadcasters caught us in the act: https://barrie.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1298381

The competition was an amazing morning in Midland at the Mountainview Loppet.  I have seen so much improvement in all of your skiing, and for this you should all be super proud!  For as long as you compete you will learn something new at each race: climbing, cornering, double poleing, pacing, waxing, ski choice, nutrition....) We are full swing in our racing season now  - and from here until March you can race every weekend if you choose to!  The more racing the better.  You also all pretty much 100% nailed the waxing, so be sure to thank your in home wax experts for this!!!!

Which brings me to my new suggestion.  We are going to start doing some TT (time trials) Wednesdays  to watch our improvement and to add to the weekend racing. I want to do these in a skiathlon style.  Depending on the race days, we will now be training Saturdays (technique, intervals) and Sundays (Long ski distance).

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday can include alternative sports, rest and  please do STRENGTH AT LEAST ONCE (push ups, sit ups, lunges (with weight), chin ups, box jumps, plank to exhaustion x3)

Wednesday 5-7pm: Time trial - skiathlon style.  Classic and skate.

Saturday (pre-ski 1 hr before races begin - but I will update blog by Saturday): Mono Nordic in Orangeville. Race including pre and post race skate ski.

Sunday 9:30am: Long Distance Ski at Hardwood.  Definitely bring snacks and a waterbelt.  This will be classic style as we will have already raced skate style on Saturday.
