Week of Nov 22nd - SNOW!!!


SNOW UPDATE

There is SNOW in the air here in Oro-Medonte right now with somewhere in the 15-20cm range expected today and tonight.

Hardwood seems to be working on their Trails, but we will need to wait and see what Wednesday night might hold.

Right now the temperatures are projected to rise back above freezing on Wednesday afternoon reaching +4C with a chance of showers, so it is by no means certain that skiing will be possible.

I'll provide an update tomorrow night by 7PM as to whether we might consider an in-person practice for Wednesday.

Regardless, I would start to get some skis prepped as Saturday morning looks likely that we'll be on snow in some fashion at Hardwood.

I'll also provide an update on Friday morning by 11AM as to what the plan will be on Saturday morning.

With that said, I would again encourage all parents to start to watch the weather forecast, the radar, as well as the road conditions in the links at the bottom.  We also want you to be able to get here safely and with time to spare. We also need you to be mindful of potential changes in what we'll do at a given practice.

As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:

  • Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
  • Running – Try for 20-30min.  Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
  • Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either on-road or off-road
  • Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
  • Strength Training – Try some of the exercised that we do at practice on your own.  These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week.  Perhaps each Monday combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
  • Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc.  There are LOTS of great resources online
  • We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
