Some Snow is ALWAYS Better than No Snow!
What a treat it was to be able to get two practices in on-snow in late November. There is no guarantee that this will last, so we will take the opportunities to ski when we can.
Both Wednesday and Saturday look promising for "some sort" of skiing. I think that we proved this past Saturday that we can have LOTS of fun with just a dusting of snow.
Stay tuned to your email for any developments this week if conditions change.
Wednesday - Skate Skiing at Hardwood
Please arrive between 5:15PM and 5:25PM so that we can get started at 5:30PM. You will need to Enter off Line 6 as the main entrance to the Upper Lot will likely be closed.
Bring your older skis as the coverage is still very thin.
The "R-Word" in the forecast doesn't appear to arrive until later in the evening, so we should be good.
Saturday – Classic Skiing at Hardwood🤞
We will again be doing a ski on whatever snow Hardwood has along with some ski games for the first 90min.
For the final 30min, please bring some winter boots and snow pants as we might end up in the forest across Line 6 for some "hide and seek" adventures.
Please also be sure to bring a water belt and perhaps some snacks.
Please arrive by 9:15AM so that we can get Skiing by 9:30AM. Practice will run until 11:30AM
As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
- Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either on-road or off-road
- Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercised that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. Perhaps each Monday combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
- We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
