We have had another week of up-and-down weather, but I really think that by next week winter will firmly settle in.
We had LOTS of fun playing Manhunt and doing Hill Sprints last Saturday as the snow fell.
For this week we should be able to do both practices this week on-snow!
Looking ahead to next week, we should now be able to move to both Saturday and Sunday practices. Next Saturday (Dec 18th) will also be our first race at Highlands Nordic!
Stay tuned to the WhatsApp Group over the next few weeks as conditions change.
Wednesday - Skate Ski at Hardwood
Please arrive by 5:20PM so that we can get skiing by 5:30PM. We will first head-out for a trail ski and then decide where conditions are best for some fun Relays and Sprints
BRING A HEADLAMP
Saturday - Classic Ski at Hardwood
Temperatures are supposed to be warm overnight on Friday and into Saturday morning, so classic on Crowns/Skins will be the most predictable.
Please arrive by 9:20AM and be sure to put some liquid glide wax on your skis prior to starting out. Liquid Glide Wax goes on the whole ski so that snow does not build up on your grip zone as well.
Depending on what's falling from the sky (snow vs. rain) the practice may only run until 11:00AM
- Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either on-road or off-road
- Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercised that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. Perhaps each Monday combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
- We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
