Glad that we all stayed Warm on Saturday and another great job everyone your TT yesterday.
All the coaches continue to see noticeable improvements in your Classic technique and very strong efforts all around.
Keep working on your weight shift, long glides, and good posture. Keep skiing consistently with your best technique and the progress will come with time and effort.
We're all getting this AMAZING snowstorm right now which should allow for Monora Park to open more trails for this Saturday!
Wednesday - Classic
Please arrive between 5:20PM and 5:25PM so that we can get started at 5:30PM.
Hardwood is now officially open for Night Skiing, so pass that along to any friends and family.
The temperatures will start off around Zero on Wednesday morning, but fall throughout the afternoon with some more new snow. My suggestion is a Blue, or Blue Extra, Wax. For those with a slightly stiffer set of skis, you might need to add a bit of warmer wax just under the toe, but cover it with your last few layers of Blue.
I'll be there by 5:10PM if anyone needs any final touch-ups on wax
Saturday – Mono Nordic Race
We are all so excited to have our first "real" race of the year. I know that many of you have been waiting almost two years for the return of events, and it will be worth the wait!
We will send out a note on Friday with the final details for the event. In the meantime, keep watching the Mono Race page HERE and the Monora Park Trail Conditions HERE.
Sunday - Long Classic Ski
We will return to the Sochi Extension for more drills and skills as well as a Long Classic Ski
Please arrive by 9:20AM so that we can get Skiing by 9:30AM. We will do some more Classic technique up to 10:00AM, then a 75-90min continuous ski.
As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
- Try to get-out to Hardwood, or anywhere else with SNOW, for at least one (or two) extra skis per week
- Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either indoors or outdoors if safe
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercised that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. You can either run outside as a warm-up, then do strength inside, or run on a treadmill followed by your strength workout!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
- We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
