What great Fun in the Sun this past Saturday at Mount St. Louis.
Most kids were surprised how many times they sprinted up and down the section of the hill that Sarah and Bronwyn used for the "Lego Games" - many said more than TEN (10)
We're getting ready for our annual two-day "Ninja Camp" this weekend. The weather is looking decent based on the current forecast. More info to follow via email mid-week.
If you are still in search of any ski equipment for the winter, please do feel free to reach out to the Coaches as we're always happy to help where we can!
The stores for Team Kit are also still open for ONE (1) MORE Week - see HERE for the Garneau store for Warm-Up Jackets, Pants, Tights, Tops, etc., and see HERE for the Jackroo store for Hats, Puffy Coats, etc. You can also order Socks from Outway with the Logos are well by adding your names to the spreadsheet HERE.
Please know that there is NO requirement to purchase Team Kit, but it is a great way to show your support, the clothing is a great price and it works!
Tuesday – Running and Strength Training at Hardwood
We will again be doing a combination of Running - no ski poles needed - and Bodyweight exercises.
Arrive by 5:15PM and meet at The Palace so that we can get started right at 5:30PM and the practice will run until 7:00PM.
We'll play some soccer/baseball at the BEGINNING of practice and then head out onto the Trails for a Run.
Be sure to BRING a HEADLAMP, as well as a pair of good trail running shoes, as our run will be in the fading light. Consider also bringing some warm clothes for afterward as the sun will be down as we are wrapping up.
Saturday – Ninja Camp Day One
Morning - Copeland Forest
We will be aligning our practice with the Senior Team again. They are doing a Roller Ski Time Trial and we going on an Adventure in the neighbouring forest!
We will park at the P2 Parking Lot of Copeland Forest at Ingram Rd and Line 4 North, see a link below with the exact location. Directions to Copeland Forest P2 lot HERE.
Please Watch Out for the Senior Team skiers on the Road as you approach P2 as they'll already be Roller Skiing on Ingram Rd.
Please arrive by 9:15AM as the practice will start at 9:30AM. Please bring water and snacks accordingly and we recommend a water bottle belt to carry both. Practice will wrap up at 11:30AM as usual. Bring POLES!
We will go into Copeland Forest as a group for some Pole Walking as well as some "forest" games.
After that, we'll drive back to our house (7-8min away) for a "Bring Your Own Lunch". Look for a separate email about the schedule for the rest of "Ninja Camp" in the coming days.
As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
- Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthy
- Running – Try for 20-30min. Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
- Cycling – Try for 45-60min, either on-road or off-road
- Fun at Recess – Play Basketball, Touch Football, Grounders, or just about anything that has you moving and jumping
- Strength Training – Try some of the exercises that we do at practice on your own. These can all be done either inside or outside and I would encourage everyone to try to do one additional Run/Strength session each week. Perhaps combine them with a run in your local park or forest!
- Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc. There are LOTS of great resources online
- We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
