Week of Dec 4th - Unsettled Weather

It's THAT time of Year

I'm sure everyone had fun on the first real snow of the year, but like most years it is going to take a while before we have predictable "Good" skiing in Central Ontario.  This week will certainly bear testament to that fact!

Be patient, keep exercising in any way you find fun and we'll take our skiing opportunities where we can find them!

As we mentioned in last week's blog, we will still need to be ready to react to the conditions to find the best places to have FUN on Snow!

Tuesday (UPDATED)

We will be able to ski on Torino ONLY and HEADLAMPS are Mandatory.  No Headlamp = No Ski:(

Arrive between 1715 and 1720 and Enter via Line 6.  If you can bring Skate Skis, that would be preferred.

We will need to walk to where it is safe to ski.  You WILL also have to take your skis off to safely do the final section of Home Run as it is NOT safe to ski past a certain point due to very low snow.

We will work on balance tonight and finish up by 1900 as per usual.

Saturday (To be Determined)

Right now the weather for Saturday in Simcoe County looks to be above freezing with the chance of rain...

That means we have three (3) likely options at this point in time as it looks unlikely that HSB would be open:
  1. An on-foot practice somewhere in the Simcoe Country area
  2. An indoor practice "somewhere" in the Simcoe Country area
  3. A ski practice somewhere further north with snow

We'll do our best to keep you up-to-date on the next steps.  If your family is agreeable to drive a bit further north (e.g. Huntsville or even North Bay), please let us know!

As for the rest of your week, here are some suggestions for other activities should you need them:
  • Be active every day, get enough sleep and be sure to always eat healthily
  • Running – Try for 20-30min.  Start easy, but find some hills if you can!
  • Cycling – Try for 20-30min, indoors on a Spin Bike while watching your favourite show
  • Strength Training – Keep up with the exercises that we did at practice in the Fall on your own.  We would encourage everyone to keep up with doing one Run/Strength session each week.
  • Be sure to keep working on your mobility either through stretching, yoga, pilates, etc.  There are LOTS of great resources online
  • We know that most of you are quite active between practices, just be sure you are doing something for 45-60min most every day.
