Welcome to the 2024/2025 Season!

Welcome to the 2024-2025 Team Hardwood Junior Blog

It seems like such a long time ago many of us were enjoying the sun on the last ski day of this past season.

All the coaches are looking forward to skiing with each of you this season and seeing you improve each and every practice.  Hopefully, our trend for good weather for our practices also continues!

We will be looking to connect with each family, both new and returning, over the next few weeks to review recommended equipment and clothing, chat about goals for the upcoming year, and answer any additional questions you might have.

We will also post a document in the coming weeks that gives a high-level overview of our coaching philosophy for the Junior Team.  Our focus is on having fun with friends as we all work to become better skiers.  The document will also cover our very objective approach to how we look to gauge a skier's improvement as well as how we encourage them to reflect upon their training sessions and their races.

We are looking forward to another great season of Team Hardwood!

Tuesday – Intro to Strength Training

We will be doing a combination of Running with Ski Poles - and Bodyweight exercises.

Arrive by 5:20PM via Line 6 and meet at The Palace so that we can get running right at 5:30PM and the practice will run until 7:00PM.  Bring Ski Walking POLES!

Be sure to bring good trail running shoes and some warm clothes for afterward as the sun will be going down as we are wrapping up.

NOTE - It looks like some rain coming through during practice time, so dress appropriately!

Saturday – Ski Walking at Mount St. Louis

We will align our practice with the Senior Team at Mount St. Louis this week looking to "climb a few mountains"!

Please arrive by 9:20AM and park to the left of the Kids Camp Building in the large lot near the base of the Gentle Ben Lift - see map HERE.

We will be exploring the hills and hopefully making it to the TOP for a great view of the surrounding area.  The weather is slated to be cooler and possibly damp, so dress accordingly.

Practice will wrap up at 11:30AM as usual.  Bring Ski Walking POLES!

Ski Swaps

Look for some more information this week regarding our internal Team Ski Swap on the weekend of Oct 12th & 13th, as well as the Hardwood Ski and Bike Swap on Oct 19th & Oct 20th.

Fall Weekend Camp

We are looking at the weekend of Oct 26th & Oct 27th for our Fall Weekend "Ninja" Camp.

What's "Ninja Camp"?  Well, it is a full weekend of Ski Fun - including a campfire and sleepover -  all of which takes place in the area around Hardwood.  The Camp is designed to give the newer skiers a chance to really get to know the rest of the group as well as for everyone to build new skills!
